About the Team
Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America’s leading retailers.
Target’s distinctive brand love is infused throughout its many physical locations by the Properties teams. We have a direct and positive impact on the real estate, design, construction and maintenance of our stores, distribution centers and headquarters.
The Properties Data Analytics team’s mission is to harness the power of data to inform critical decisions that enable a reliable and on-brand guest experience at every Target location.
We are uniquely positioned to lead meaningful analytical work—including A/B testing, experimentation, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision support—to inform Property Management’s evolving strategies in a rapidly changing environment.
About the Role
As a Lead Data Analyst on the Properties Data & Insights team, you will serve as a technical expert, strategic thought partner, and analytical leader. You will drive complex, high-impact analytical work while also guiding the team’s technical direction, elevating analytical rigor, and strengthening data science maturity within the Properties organization.
This role requires a strong blend of deep technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capability. You will independently lead end-to-end analytical initiatives and serve as a mentor and technical coach to other analysts, helping them grow their skills and influence. You will also partner closely with Product Managers, engineering teams, and senior business leaders to shape analytical approaches that inform enterprise-level decision-making.
In this role, you will:
Lead high-impact analytical initiatives by framing complex business problems, defining success measures, and delivering insights that inform strategic and operational decisions.
Serve as the technical authority on analytical methods, guiding the team on statistical modeling, experimentation, advanced data analysis, and data science techniques.
Design, operationalize, and evaluate rigorous experiments, including A/B tests and pilots, with responsibility for methodology, sample design, measurement frameworks, and interpretation of results.
Build sophisticated, scalable analytical solutions — including predictive models, advanced dashboards, reusable datasets, and automated insight tools.
Conduct deep exploratory analysis and root-cause investigations to identify patterns, operational inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
Partner with data engineering and technology teams to influence data architecture decisions, ensuring sound data lineage, quality, and scalable data pipelines.
Mentor, coach, and elevate the work of other analysts by providing technical guidance, feedback, and thought leadership across the team.
Act as a trusted advisor to Product Managers and senior stakeholders by translating complex analysis into clear narratives and actionable recommendations.
Continuously advance the team’s analytical capabilities by introducing new tools, analytical methods, and best practices.
Core responsibilities are described above; job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
