The UpToDate Expert AI team is a cross-functional group of designers, researchers, engineers, and clinicians working at the forefront of healthcare innovation. We're building our flagship application, UpToDate Expert AI, to redefine how clinical knowledge is accessed and applied at the point of care. Our team thrives on collaboration, curiosity, and a shared mission to empower clinicians with intelligent, intuitive tools that improve patient outcomes. You will help lead efforts to establish a cohesive design vision and culture as we expand UpToDate Expert AI’s capabilities and deliver intuitive experiences across multiple platforms and touchpoints.

Hybrid: Eight days a month we come together in the closest ET/CT local office within 50 miles to experience the value of connecting with colleagues. Your Portfolio

  • Your portfolio should demonstrate a track record of developing useful and intuitive interfaces
  • You should be prepared to speak about the processes used to develop your solutions and the specific role that you played in these processes

 

Required Job Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience working as a Lead UX designer – ideally within an agile environment
  • Familiar with principles of Lean Product and Lean UX
  • Hands-on experience building mobile web and native apps
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and act as a liaison among the UX, product, clinical, and technology teams to ensure standards of excellence are met
  • Ability to work with limited guidance and make decisions independently is a must
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university (or equivalent) in Interaction Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communication & Multimedia Design/Media Technology, Information Architecture or related field

 

Technical Skills

  • Experience working with design systems and familiar with creating UX patterns
  • Experience adhering to WCAG compliance and standards
  • Mastered design software such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of agile software development processes and experience with requirements management and complex projects
  • Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3

 

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, particularly in payer and provider sectors and experience offerings preferred
  • Agency experience is highly preferred
  • Have a deep understanding of typography, color, layout and motion design principles
  • Passionate about design, emerging technologies and problem solving
  • Both a self-starter and team-oriented, with a willingness to teach and learn; open to feedback and welcomes constructive criticism
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in distributed, collaborative teams
