Assists the supervisor with the daily routine of custodial personnel and scheduling or coverage problems. Serves as working lead to ensure that all custodial duties are performed in a high-quality manner. Maintains a safe and healthy work area for staff, visitors, and customers.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responds to dispatch service requests from customers and field out to the day crew personnel.
  • Covers all areas daily, conducting spot checks to ensure thoroughness and quality of cleanliness.
  • Instructs personnel in the proper manner of execution of responsibilities and reports daily progress to the supervisor.
  • Compiles a monthly list of supplies needed and submits the order to the supervisor.
  • Assists the supervisor in contacting customers to discuss problems or concerns. Handles and resolves customer complaints. Prioritizing problems or issues at times with several different customers may be necessary. Conducts tours with customers and follows up to advise on progress, etc.
  • Holds group/team meetings to discuss issues of concern and follow up with employees in the absence of a supervisor. Discusses all safety issues and provides proper PPE.
  • Assists the supervisor with on-the-job training for new employees across every phase of their job, including chemical and equipment use. Provides continuous training using on-the-job coaching methods for current employees. Provides training on new products and/or equipment when necessary.
  • Ensures that all keys, pagers, and radios are checked in and out in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensures that laundry is cleaned and distributed to all satellite offices on each shift.
  • Manages moves and set-up for special events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • 1st shift schedule is typically Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
  • 2nd shift schedule is typically Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM-11:00 PM
  • Alternative work schedule as a regular part of the job (shifts, evenings, weekends)

    Salary Range

    $19.29 - $29.91 / Hourly

    The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
