Introduction to role

AstraZeneca’s Global Business Services – Process & Analytics Services capability is transforming how the enterprise uses data, automation, and AI to reimagine business processes. As part of the Process Insights team, this Lead Consultant role will scale SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and Datasphere capabilities to power data-driven decisions across the organisation. Accountabilities

Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of analytic applications, interactive dashboards, and benchmark models using SAP Analytics Cloud and Datasphere for both import and live scenarios, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned to business needs.

Own the architecture and build of secure, governed data models in Datasphere that support advanced analytics, cross-system reporting, and consistent semantic definitions across SAP and non-SAP sources.

Drive hands-on integration between SAC and Datasphere, connecting, modelling, and harmonising data from multiple systems to enable real-time, trusted analytics for global partners.

Design and deliver comprehensive SAC reports and stories with multiple tabs, queries, visualisations, drill-downs, and advanced interactions tailored to specific business processes and user journeys.

Apply advanced scripting (JavaScript, SQL, Python) to customise SAC applications, create custom widgets, orchestrate automated data flows in Datasphere, and embed predictive and R-based visualisations.

Champion standard processes in data visualisation, usability, accessibility, and performance optimisation, continuously tuning dashboards and applications and proactively identifying bottlenecks and enhancements.

Lead and coordinate delivery teams, managing junior developers across the lifecycle from requirements through build, testing, deployment, and hypercare within agile and scrum frameworks.

Mentor and coach team members to raise technical standards, embed robust ways of working, improve documentation quality, and strengthen engineering fields across the analytics portfolio.

Collaborate closely with business collaborators, product owners, and multi-functional teams to capture requirements, shape roadmaps, manage expectations, and ensure solutions support end-to-end business processes.

Act as a trusted advisor on SAC/Datasphere strategy, guiding participants on data governance, integration patterns, predictive capabilities, and how to unlock more value from existing SAP investments.

Promote a culture of ethical, transparent decision-making by ensuring analytics solutions are accurate, explainable, and aligned with compliance expectations.

Essential Skills/Experience

Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field.

12–15 years of relevant experience, with at least 2–3 years as a Senior Consultant or in a comparable SAP SAC/Datasphere-focused role.

Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and delivering SAC solutions for reporting, including integration with SAP Datasphere.

Proven hands-on experience with SAP Datasphere and SAP BDC for data management, integration, and automation.

Expertise in SAC predictive functionality, Smart features, advanced story canvases, data blending, cross-calculations, input controls, and linked analysis.

Advanced skills in connecting SAC/Datasphere to SAP HANA and other external databases.

Proficiency in SAP Datasphere for unified, harmonized, and governed data model creation supporting enterprise analytics.

In-depth knowledge of data integration and ETL processes across SAC, Datasphere, and related analytics platforms.

Advanced coding and scripting abilities in SQL, Python, and JavaScript for dashboard customization and data automation.

Experience with SAC scripting for custom widgets, analytics applications, and automated data flows in Datasphere.

Solid background in leading all aspects of team management, coordinating worksheets, managing delivery, and mentoring team members within agile environments.

Experience collaborating across various business teams to translate requirements into robust analytical solutions.

Understanding of SAP Finance and/or Operations processes (valued).

Certification in SAC Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Low-Code/No-Code Developer, or related (appreciated).

Good communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and ability to thrive in an agile, dynamic environment.

Energetic, organized, and self-motivated approach to work.

Fluency in business English.

Desirable Skills/Experience

Experience leading global or multi-region SAC/Datasphere implementations in complex SAP landscapes.

Background in designing analytics solutions that support finance or operations transformation programmes.

Exposure to data governance frameworks and metadata management within SAP-centric environments.

Familiarity with DevOps practices for analytics (CI/CD pipelines for SAC content transport, automated testing of data models).

Experience working with design thinking methods to shape user-centric dashboards and applications.
