Provides support and leadership for telemetry surveillance center and staff to work in an effective and efficient manner to keep patient safety and satisfaction at optimal levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent

2. Obtain certification in Heartsaver OR Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date

EXPERIENCE:

1. One year of experience in a Cardiac Monitor Technician role  

To be completed as established by department: (Administered at Department level) 

1. Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course.

1. Graduate of Technical Education Program or Medical Assistant Program

1. Communicate all scheduling issues with charge nurse in a timely manner (call offs, on-call, extra shift, low census, late personnel, etc) to allow charge nurse to document properly in Kronos and staffing sheet.

2. Assign techs to appropriate work areas for each shift.

3. Responsible for making sure telemetry orders are completed, faxed, and emailed every four hours.

4. Responsible for making sure inventory is completed every four hours.

5. Deliver every telemetry pack to the correct room and patient, attach leads correctly to patient, and confirm with information with corresponding technician.

6. Track down and retrieve lost, unused, and discharged packs from all parts of hospital.

7. Responsible for finding coverage in case of call-offs, late or ill staff, and any other extenuating circumstances.

8. Assist with mentoring staff during orientation.

9. Ensure telemetry supplies are readily available (leads, electrodes, clear bags, cleansing wipes, printer paper, strip paper, batteries- AA and lithium, battery adaptors, printer toner, office supplies, etc).

10. Demonstrate flexibility in responding to different unit and service needs.

11. Follow procedure for correct patient identification.

12. Report all malfunctions and needed adjustments of equipment to biomedical engineering.

13. Prepare patient’s skin according to policy and procedure to ensure the best possible rhythm interpretation.

14. Change all low and empty batteries.

15. Adjust troublesome leads/placement.

16. Resolves issues with telemetry packs.

17. Must go into staffing if adequate coverage cannot be arranged.

18. Greet patients in a pleasant and professional manner.
