PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Primarily responsible for unloading incoming ingredient trucks into correct bins, while maintaining organization and maximizing space utilization depending on current stock. In addition, will perform housekeeping activities, maintenance and repair of equipment, and quality checks on ingredients. Also responsible for preventing theft or loss of product ensuring trucks leave empty. Responsible for compliance with all company policies, FSMA regulations, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Under minimal supervision, unload and inspect incoming ingredient trucks verifying condition and quality prior to placing in correct bins; ensure bins and storage areas do not overflow
- Operate auto-receiving equipment
- Collect feed samples in accordance with sampling plan, notify appropriate personnel of variances
- Accurately complete and maintain appropriate paperwork and reports in a timely manner
- Communicate and coordinate batching schedule and production with appropriate personnel maximizing efficiency while following FDA, GMP and QC procedures
- Verify departing trucks have been completely emptied to prevent theft and/or loss of product
- Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of equipment; communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel
- Perform routine housekeeping duties ensuring designated areas are kept clean
- Direct the work of others and be the “go-to” for questions and concerns in relation to task performance in the absence of supervisor or superintendent at their direction
- Train entry level employees as needed
- Assist in making sure all quality and food safety policies and procedures are being followed
- Work in compliance with all company policies, FSMA regulations and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
- All other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of feed mill manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Intermediate math (add, subtract, multiply and/or divide proportions, percentages, area, volume, etc.)
- Basic computer knowledge and usage skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
- Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
- Frequently stoop, kneel, crawl and bend
- Frequently climb stairs and 50+ foot ladders
- Ability to lift and carry 50 - 100 lbs
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Constantly subject to dusty, hot environments
- Frequently work in loud environment requiring ear protection
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Ability to work at heights of 200+ ft
- Ability to operate a pallet jack with 2,000+ lbs. of material
