Role Summary  

The Lead Analyst plays a key role within the Individual Investor Data Management team.  The II business is responsible for over $200B in client assets and serves 1.3 million investors. This role will contribute substantively to a cross-functional team by leveraging expertise in data management and reporting to support the positioning of T. Rowe Price investment products and retirement plan solutions for plan sponsors and retirement advisors. The Lead Analyst will leverage advanced technical and business data expertise and exceptional communication skills to drive strategic stakeholder partnerships and oversee data initiatives. 
 
Utilizes data subject matter expertise to lead discussions and serve as the primary data contact, with a particular focus on enabling the effective positioning of T. Rowe Price investment products and retirement plan solutions to plan sponsors and retirement advisors. Partners on crossover projects that span Individual Investor, Retirement Plan Services (RPS), and Advisory offers, ensuring data-driven strategies support both segments. Manages relationships with cross-functional team leads and coordinates the review and validation of data management work to enable strategic initiatives across multiple business lines. Leverages expertise to advise cross-functional stakeholders on methods to ensure data is accurate, timely, reliable, and trusted for business-critical activities. 
 

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for leading the development and testing of data management systems. Makes recommendations to management based on analysis and review of reports and findings aggregated by more junior professionals. 
  • Acts as a consultant to the business on the most complex data and reporting requests. Ensures that data reporting and analyses provided to internal clients and stakeholders are timely and accurate and provides actionable insights for teams.  
  • Provides analysis recommendations for current and future needs, which minimize redundancy and maximize compatibility of data within and across the business unit. Provides guidance on most complex data issues identified by more junior professionals. 
  • Defines and manages processes and controls for the creation, consumption, assimilation, and/or destruction of data. Participates in projects with cross-functional teams and may serve as an advisor from a data management perspective. Ensures project goals are in line with overall data management business goals in terms of data and reporting needs.  
  • Manages the most complex data sets. May be responsible for the development and providing guidance on data quality and maintenance policies and procedures. Evangelizes best practices for the business. 

 

Qualifications  
Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 8+ years of total relevant work experience  

 

Preferred: 

  • Certified Product Owner or equivalent and demonstrable experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban). 
  • Advanced data domain knowledge: data lineage, metadata management, data quality frameworks, and master data management (MDM). 
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of investment products specifically within the retail and retirement plan space (e.g., Brokerage accounts, IRAs, ETFs, 401(k), 403(b), defined contribution, defined benefit plans), with demonstrated ability to inform requirements and business decisions. 
  • Strong knowledge of relational database models and advanced SQL skills for data extraction, profiling, and review. 
  • Proven experience with end-to-end data flows, dependencies, and translating data design into business outcomes. 
  • Advanced project management skills and experience leading complex, cross-functional data initiatives. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present technical concepts to business and senior leadership. 
  • Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate across matrixed teams and stakeholders. 
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple high-priority, sensitive projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong organization, planning, prioritization, and process-improvement orientation. 
  • Experience with MS Office (advanced Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Teams). 
  • Experience creating, organizing, and executing comprehensive test plans for data pipelines and data products (including test cases, acceptance criteria, data validation, regression testing, and automated test coverage) to ensure data integrity and delivery quality. 
  • Experience defining and tracking data governance KPIs and using metrics to drive remediation.
  • Experience mentoring or developing junior staff and leading capability-building efforts.

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role. 
  
Work Flexibility  
This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to one day per week from home. 

Base Salary Ranges

$120,000.00 - $205,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
$132,000.00 - $225,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
$150,000.00 - $256,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role.  Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.  Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
