We are seeking a senior AI technical leader to serve as the architectural guide and cross‑divisional partner for our new Risk‑Based Monitoring (RBM) initiative. This high‑leverage role ensures architectural clarity, sustainable scaling, and seamless integration of diverse AI solutions into our platform. As a key influencer within the RBM program, the Lead AI Engineer will shape technical direction, strengthen our predictive capabilities, and elevate the quality of data and insights that power clinical trials.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Review and challenge proposed system designs, ensuring robust architecture and orchestration across divisions.

  • Advise on infrastructure strategy, data residency, and integration patterns to ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Guide the orchestration of AI components from multiple domains, ensuring cohesive operation across the platform.

  • Design evaluation and observability frameworks that monitor system health, performance, and model behavior.

  • Pressure‑test architectural decisions to identify risks, simplification opportunities, and long‑term tradeoffs.

  • Challenge sequencing and prioritization to ensure sustainable technical delivery.

  • Influence ways of working across engineering and data teams to promote architectural best practices and alignment.

  • Maintain Quality Service and Departmental Standards by adhering to organizational SOPs.

  • Contribute to team goals by collaborating with internal stakeholders and supporting colleagues.

  • Maintain technical and industry knowledge through applicable training and awareness of emerging trends.

What We Look For

  • Extensive experience architecting and shipping real‑world AI systems at scale.

  • Strong background in cross‑functional and cross‑division technical architecture or consulting roles.

  • Deep knowledge of data integration, orchestration patterns, and infrastructure strategy (cloud, APIs, modular systems).

  • Ability to critically evaluate architectural tradeoffs, communicate long‑term impacts, and guide decision‑making.

  • Experience with platform integration, ideally involving modern stacks such as Angular and cloud‑native environments.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to influence without direct authority.

  • Experience in regulated or healthcare environments is a plus, but not required.

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or related field.

  • At least 7+ years of experience in AI/ML with strong programming skills in Python, Java, and C++.

  • Proficiency with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, or TensorFlow.

  • Proven record of technical leadership in AI/ML projects demonstrating innovation and architectural stewardship.

  • Strong understanding of software and systems engineering principles, including cloud computing and CI/CD.

  • Outstanding leadership and mentoring ability.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas.

  • Proactive, analytical problem‑solver committed to continuous learning and improvement.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; able to adjust to changing priorities and timelines.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a professional, positive attitude.
