Program Summary

Job Summary

As a Tactical Shop Mechanic, you will repair and maintain a variety of Tactical equipment which may include: motor vehicles or heavy equipment. Duties include repair of mechanical/electrical deficiencies, installing new parts, performing inspections, disassembling engines and mechanical units to inspect parts and operating defects, promoting safety awareness and compile with all applicable safety procedures and regulations. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintains, inspects, troubleshoots, replaces, repairs, adjusts, performs preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS), diesel engines/transmissions, cooling systems, vehicle starting, charging systems, vehicle electrical systems, assemblies , cross drive transmission assemblies, auxiliary drive assemblies, propeller shaft assemblies, vehicle suspension systems, vehicle wheel hub assemblies, mechanical and hydraulic steering systems, controlled differential steering systems, vehicle hydraulic assemblies, fire extinguisher and suppression systems.

  • Performs full range of repair and modification work on Tactical equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.

  • Replaces and adjusts wheel bearing, idler arms, idler bearings, and oil seals.

  • Replaces brakes, suspension arms, torsion bars, stabilizer bars, etc.

  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.

  • Operates and inspects vehicles, machines, or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.

  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.

  • Dismantles and reassemble heavy equipment using hoist and hand tools.

  • Cleans, lubricates, and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.

  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometer and gauges.

  • Reads and understands operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.

  • Overhauls and tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Insures compliance with applicable Technical Bulletin (TB’s), Technical Manuals (TM), Safety of Use Messages (SOUM) and Work Instructions.   

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of one-year experience performing maintenance and repairs on Tactical vehicles, machinery, or mechanical systems

  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

  • Must be capable of lifting 30-50 pounds and move heavy parts and equipment

  • Must be self-starter and be able to work with little to no supervision

  • Must be accurate, well organized with strong attention to detail and quality workmanship

  • Above average oral and written communication skills

  • Must have a valid vehicle driver’s license and maintain its validity for the duration of employment

  • Fluency in Albanian and possessing an unrestricted right to work and reside in Kosovo.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • Level I proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)

  • Completion of a vocational/technical program in automotive or mechanical repair

  • Experience working with diagnostic software and advanced troubleshooting tools
