The starting pay for this position is $19.81/hr. After successful completion of a one-year trial period with OTRD, the rate of pay may increase to $21.78/hr.Job Description
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving patrolling park/resort grounds and property and the enforcement of laws, rules, and regulations within the assigned area of responsibility. This includes ensuring the safety and welfare of park/resort visitors and assigned staff.
The functions within this job family will vary by level but may include the following: Patrol assigned areas within a state park/resort; provide security and protection for property, visitors, and staff.
Assist visitors as needed; assure compliance with established laws, rules, and regulations.
Conduct investigations; make arrests and seize evidence or stolen property; prepare reports and forms.
Represent the agency in court during legal proceedings; provide testimony or present evidence as required; assist other law enforcement agencies and officials as needed.
Render first aid as needed.
Inform visitors of the ecological and cultural heritage of Oklahoma.
This is the basic level where incumbents primarily perform entry-level duties in a training status to build their skills in providing security and protection in a state park or resort and providing assistance to visitors using the park/resort facilities
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a full-time CLEET certification or equivalent State or Federal Law Enforcement certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of safety and security techniques; first aid; public relations; report writing, and the ecological and cultural heritage of Oklahoma. Ability is required to interpret and apply state motor vehicle laws, criminal laws, and other statutes; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to enforce applicable laws and regulations, park rules; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Applicants for positions in this job family must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's License and must be able to perform the full spectrum of Law Enforcement duties in an austere environment with minimal assistance.
