Leidos is looking for a Law Clerk to join our Washington, DC team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor.
Performs simple to moderately complex legal research for the trial staff.
Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc. reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
Perform Bluebooking and cite checking of briefs.
Ability to conduct research in applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law.
Demonstrated ability to discern the relevant issues in complex fact patterns.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study or, six (6) years of legal training or experience may be substituted. .
Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Bluebooking, Cite checking, creating Tables of Contents/Authorities is strongly preferred.
Experience with e-discovery tools including Relativity, valued.
Proficiency with the Microsoft suite, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat is essential.
Strong analytic, organizational, legal research and writing skills are preferred.
Experience evaluating financial and debt records, valued.
Trial support experience helpful.
This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum requirements. Leidos ensures that all provisions are satisfied. The pay for this position will be $38.77/hr.
