What you’ll be doing:

You’ll join an engaged, multi-disciplinary team of engineers who can help you understand the Controls Software Development landscape and gain exposure across all its many dimensions. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience, while contributing to addressing some of the most important and challenging programs in our portfolio. In addition, you will be part of a wide organization, with a myriad of growth options available to you for a fulfilling career.

In this role, you’ll be based in the Electrical, Electronics, Software, Control System Design, and System Security (E24S) group. This group is part of the Rolls-Royce Engineering, Technology and Safety business capability and the central home for engineering skills in the Rolls-Royce group.

E24S is made up of a diverse group of engineering areas covering: Software (traditional and model-base), Systems, Electronics, Electrical Power, and System Security. We work closely together in the design, integration, testing, in-service support and supply chain management to ensure our customers’ needs are met.
 

Controls Development Operations Engineers work on a wide variety of projects to support Rolls-Royce’s diverse customer base in areas including, but not limited to: software design, software integration, software verification and system simulation.

You’ll also work at the intersection of software development and IT operations, with the goal of making the software development and verification tool chains run more efficiently. You’ll build and manage automation pipelines (CI/CD) so new code gets tested, deployed and monitored continually. You’ll provide and maintain infrastructure (servers and cloud), manage configurations and ensure systems are secure and stable. You’ll also help to bridge communication gaps between developers, verification, simulation, operations and security teams.

Who we’re looking for:

You’ll be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, curiosity and a problem-solving mindset, along with analytical and critical thinking skills.

You’ll also have:

  • Experience of Linux and Windows Server environments with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash)

  • Knowledge of or experience with using compiled (C/C++) and scripted language (Python).

  • Foundational understanding of networking concepts, server architecture, infrastructure / platform engineering, and virtualization / cloud concepts (especially VMware)

  • Excellent attention to detail, self-motivation, problem solving skills, and ability for written and oral communication to a variety of audiences (e.g. team members, technical experts, and management)

Relevant Majors: Educated to degree level (minimum a bachelors) in a STEM subject, including Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or an engineering technology degree (e.g. Electrical Engineering Technology)

Standing/Graduation Eligibility: You’ll receive your degree between December 2025 and August 2026.
