Roles

The Launch Electrical Process Engineer role is the key person at Launch to ensure all manufacturing requirements and best practices are implemented. This person will also ensure that the in-process testers are successfully executed. They will follow all standards in the Electrical Bill of Operations.

What You'll Do

  • Be an integral part of the Vehicle Electrical Systems team.

  • Conduct and lead electrical training at various GM and supplier sites.

  • Ensure compliance with Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) standards at GM plants and supplier facilities.

  • Support launch activities for major programs, including travel as required.

  • Lead technical initiatives to improve EFTQ metrics and support OpEx projects.

  • Participate in virtual builds and reviews for applicable Program Virtual Assessment (PVA) gates.

  • Assist with packaging, harness sequence racks, and lift-assist designs.

  • Identify and define wire harness hanking requirements for harness delivery.

  • Assist in the design and buyoff of harness lift-assist as required.

  • Follow all builds and help develop, document, and teach best handling and routing practices.

  • Collaborate with suppliers and Manufacturing Engineering (ME) to develop in-process testers and disconnected discovery methods.

  • Complete tester validation at your site and VAA sites to ensure all connections can be detected.

  • Ensure BoO compliance at Value Added Assemblers (VAAs).

  • Manage in-process tester feedback loops, NTF resolution, VAA process feedback, and LCCT-related issues.

  • Run the dedicated Electrical 5F process for in-plant tester stations.

  • Lead GM process setup activities and drive issue resolution.

  • Review/verify MPD processes, update Job Element Sheets, and ensure BoO compliance.

  • Support the Electrical Issue Resolution Team (IRT).

  • Ensure GSIP uses matching terminology for repair and production operators by supplying standard language for core team use based on IVEDs

Your Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum 3 years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Self-motivated

  • Strong analytical ability

  • Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence.

  • Must be able to continually innovate.

  • MUST have the ability to rotate between all 3 shifts

  • MUST have the ability to work overtime as needed (weekends and holidays)

What Will Give You a Competitive

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM‑related field

  • Experience Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Automotive Technology

  • Supervisory role on plant floor, experience with managing UAW employees

  • Thorough knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements and how they impact the build process.

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
