About This Role
- Serve as the County’s inspector at landfill sites to ensure compliance with contracted operations at landfill sites
- Records compliance/inspection information according to contract stipulations and addresses non-compliance issues
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations by observing and performing inspections of the landfill facilities
- Records inspection information according to permit stipulations. Includes storm water systems, leachate systems and other infrastructures
- Notify management and contractors of deficiencies in work and safety concerns and follows through to make sure that issues have been addressed and resolved in a timely manner
- Ensure accurate and complete records are maintained for inspections, performance measures and processes. Enters inspection information into databases as required by federal, state and local regulations. Interprets data and provides information and projections for contractual operations as needed
- Participate in contractor meetings to discuss work, schedules and resolve pending issues
- Prepare and submit corrective action information to Supervisor that needs to be addressed at landfill facilities
- Write reports and compiles information concerning contract and permit violations
- Review plans, specifications, and materials used on landfill projects prior to approval
Work Hours:
- Scheduled Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- 40- hour work week
- Rotation Week: Monday - Saturday
- Schedule will vary depending on departmental needs
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent AND four (4) or more years of job related experience in inspecting
- -OR- College or university-level training in related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in job related field
- Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire
- Ability to obtain a State of Florida Landfill Operators Certification after hire
Preferred "BONUS" Qualifications:
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations and ordinances relating to solid waste facilities
- Knowledge of construction plans and specifications; basic knowledge of pumps, transducers, valves, pipes and electrical panels; ability to conduct inspections
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and operation of basic surveying equipment
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay : $22.94/ hour, ability to make more based on experience
