Job Summary: Serve as a Laborer in the Corporate Services Division at DeCA Headquarters (HQ) & Support Center. Performs a variety of work including operating vehicles up to a 5-ton truck, grounds maintenance, operates small engine/equipment up to a 25 HP tractor, and assist the higher graded Maintenance Workers (Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO)) by providing labor support in the following areas: painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing. Major Duties:

Examples of qualifying experience: Applying State and local safety rules and regulations while driving and operating a 5-ton truck over all types of roads in all types of road conditions. Ensuring the maximum weight allowable for the vehicle is not exceeded. Using power and hand tools to perform routine carpentry, plumbing, electrical and ground maintenance tasks. Operating pallet jack to move, stack and un stack, load and unload materials. Performing general labor duties such as moving furniture and office equipment, housekeeping, setting up conference rooms and inspecting buildings for preventative maintenance. Physical requirements: Requires a full range of motion including standing, stooping, crawling, kneeling, climbing, walking and working for prolonged periods in uncomfortable or tiring positions, Requires that you have the ability to lift and carry material weighting up-to 40 lbs. and anything over 40 lbs. with assistance. Work is performed inside and out during temperature extremes associated with the season and in unpleasant weather elements and working conditions. Proper protection against extreme cold and dampness outside is possible using proper clothing. The nature of the work exposes the incumbent to cuts, abrasions, bruises, shocks, and mashed fingers. Work requires moderate to arduous tasks. The tools, equipment, and heavy objects involved occasionally present a chance of serious injury if good safety precautions are not exercised.
