Summary:

The laboratory of Prasenjit Dey, PhD, in the Department of Immunology, is currently seeking to hire a Laboratory Technician to participate in ongoing research projects in pancreatic and lung cancer. The lab uses a mouse model to understand the role of the immune and nervous system in driving pancreas and lung cancer.

The ideal candidate will also have experience in basic mouse handling and molecular biology skills. In addition to general research duties, it is expected that the candidate will help with administrative support and daily lab operations, including reagent and consumable inventory, ordering, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The candidate will also maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and assist in training other lab personnel on various research techniques.

The starting annual compensation for this position is $40,413 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; or
2. Associate’s degree in a science-related field and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time laboratory experience; or
3. High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time laboratory experience.

NOTE:
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will have

  • Experience with laboratory work outside of the school environment
  • Experience with cell culture or sterile systems
  • Basic knowledge of immunology or cancer biology
  • Ability to learn immunological assays such as ELISA, PCR
  • Willingness to work with mouse models
  • Experience with diligent note-taking
  • Written and oral communication skills
