Laboratory Technician - Leading Hand | Granville

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Technician - Leading Hand to join our Concrete Technical team in Sydney. 

 

This is a handson role responsible for supporting the daytoday operations of our laboratory, ensuring high standards in testing, safety, and quality, while guiding and supporting a small team of Laboratory Technicians. This fulltime position is based at our Granville Laboratory.

In your new role with us, you will: 

 

  • Lead, mentor and support Laboratory Technicians in daily laboratory testing activities 

  • Perform concrete and raw material testing in accordance with relevant Australian Standards 

  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality and NATA requirements 

  • Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance and housekeeping of the laboratory 

  • Review results for accuracy, timeliness and technical compliance 

  • Liaise with plant operations, field testing teams and technical stakeholders 

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory processes 

  • Act as a point of escalation for technical and operational matters within the lab 

 

This role is a great fit for you if you: 

 

  • Proven experience in concrete and/or materials testing (laboratory and/or field) 

  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards (AS 1012, AS 1379 preferred) 

  • Previous experience leading, supervising or acting as a senior technician 

  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and risk awareness 

  • High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills 

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to coach and support others 

  • A proactive approach and a willingness to take ownership of outcomes 

  • Are physically fit 

Preferred but not essential: 

  • Qualifications in Testing Operations and/or Laboratory Techniques 

  • Knowledge of RMS specifications and NATA accreditation requirements 

  • Experience using laboratory systems such as Qest Lab
