Summary of Job Duties:

The Slides and Blocks Lab Supervisor must have the ability to set goals, prioritize competing demands, manage tasks efficiently, and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel. They should demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills by maintaining good working relationships with all programs and divisions within the department and LPS. Additionally, the supervisor must make effective use of organizational resources and demonstrate skills as a systems thinker.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or formal educational equivalent

  • 2 years of lead lab tech/supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory and 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a scientific discipline

  • 3+ years in a lead or senior lab tech positions

Additional Information:

  • The department of pathology slides and blocks supervisor is responsible for a broad range of activities that are critical the functioning of the department.
  • The objective of this position is to ensure support to the section director, CLIA lab director, lab director, and manager within the anatomic pathology department.
  • This support includes a wide array of activities to ensure day-to-day operations go smoothly and that information that enhances integration and communication is shared and exchanged.
  • The position requires a wide degree of judgement to successfully enact its duties. 
  • They must be able to plan, coordinate, and execute tasks while working independently.
  • The supervisor is required to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills by anticipating, analyzing, interpreting, and resolving issues in accordance with the mission and goals of the lab, the pathology department, and the broader institution.
  • The supervisor must also maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive strategic and personnel-related information.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
