Job Summary

The Labor Relations Partner serves as a key advisor and case manager for union employee matters. This role is responsible for managing labor relations strategy, contract administration, and union engagement, while also leading union represented employee relations investigations, performance management support, and conflict resolution. The Labor Relations Partner ensures compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements, and fosters a culture of fairness, accountability, and collaboration.

Essential Functions

Labor Relations & Union Engagement

· Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements across departments.

· Leads grievance handling, arbitration preparation, and union negotiations.

· Advise leaders on labor contract provisions, discipline, and performance issues involving union employees.

· Monitor labor law developments and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

· Build and maintain collaborative relationships with union representatives.

· Support labor strategy development and execution during negotiations and organizational change.

Represented Employee Relations Case Management

· Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, misconduct, and policy violations.

· Document findings, recommend outcomes, and ensure timely resolution of cases.

· Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.

Manager Coaching & Performance Support

· Advise leaders on performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.

· Provide guidance on policy interpretation and application in day-to-day operations.

· Partner with HR partners to ensure consistency and fairness in employee treatment.

Policy Compliance & Risk Mitigation

· Ensure adherence to employment laws, collective bargaining agreement, and internal policies.

· Identify trends and recommend proactive strategies to mitigate risk and improve workplace culture.

· Collaborate with HR Policy & Compliance and Legal teams on complex or high-risk matters.

Training & Engagement

· Assist in the design of training on employee and labor relations best practices.

· Promote a culture of accountability, equity, and psychological safety.

· Support leader onboarding by collaborating with a HR Policy & Compliance Partner to integrating labor and employee relations content into orientation and training programs.

Job Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Labor Relations, or related field from an accredited college or university required.

· Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

· Minimum 7-10 years of progressive HR experience with a focus on both labor and employee relations.

· Proven experience in grievance handling, arbitration, and contract negotiations.

· Experience conducting investigations and advising leaders on performance and conduct issues.

· Healthcare or public sector experience is strongly preferred.

License/Certification

· HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

In addition to existing requirements, this role requires:

· In-depth knowledge of labor law, collective bargaining, and union practices.

· Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

· Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

· Ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.

· Proficiency in HRIS and case management systems.

· Ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, Project and Outlook.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $53.57 - $72.11 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
