Job Description

Responsible for overseeing and managing the relationship between the organization and its employees, labor unions, and other labor-related entities. Plays a crucial role in ensuring positive and effective communication, negotiation, and resolution of labor-related issues. Manages labor related matters at preventive, solutions and resolutions level where productivity and delivery of performance are affected.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement the organization's labor relations strategy, aligned with business objectives and legal requirements. Collaborate with senior management to define goals, objectives, and policies related to labor relations.

  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations with labor unions to establish or renew collective bargaining agreements (CBAs). Prepare proposals, analyze contract terms, and negotiate terms and conditions of employment, including wages, benefits, working hours, and grievance procedures.

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and their representatives regarding labor-related matters. Address and resolve employee grievances, disciplinary issues, and disputes in accordance with labor laws, company policies, and CBAs.

  • Stay updated on labor laws, regulations, and industry practices. Ensure the organization's policies and practices comply with applicable labor laws and regulations. Provide guidance and advice to management and HR teams on labor-related legal requirements and potential risks.

  • Facilitate discussions and mediate conflicts between management, employees, and labor unions. Promote effective communication channels and foster a cooperative and constructive labor relations environment.

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for managers and employees to promote understanding of labor laws, CBAs, and employee rights. Provide guidance on conflict resolution, effective communication, and best practices in labor relations.

  • Analyze labor relations data, including grievance trends, contract compliance, and labor costs. Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting labor-related issues, trends, and recommended actions.

  • Acts as consultant to group leaders, division heads, supervisors in the handling of employee issues preventive or in need of management disposition

  • Provides line managers with proper understanding and interpretation of the company’s Code of Conduct, rules and regulations for implementation

  • Gathers data necessary in the review of potential cases or existing cases concerning employees or labor workforce in general

  • Coordinates with the right groups such as legal, concerned department heads, legal consultants in the approach or implementation of necessary sanctions 

  • Requests for legal opinion as  necessary in situations or instances where there are controversies in compliance to required company rules and regulations. 

  • Reviews employee satisfaction surveys and endorses to ER on needed interventions that will promote retention and good relations within the and amongst employees of the organization.
