Job Description:
Are you a music technology pro who thrives at the intersection of creativity and technical problem-solving? Berklee is looking for a Lab Operations and Support Consultant to join our team. At Berklee, our mission is to foster the creative and professional growth of the world’s most inspired artists. In this role, you’ll be the backbone of that mission, ensuring our students and faculty have the seamless technical environment they need to innovate and excel.
The Role
Reporting to the Lab Operations and Support Manager, you’ll be the "go-to" expert for 24 high-tech classrooms and labs. You’ll provide tier 1 and tier 2 support for a massive array of specialized gear—from modular synths and MIDI controllers to complex DAW setups and networked audio systems. Whether you're troubleshooting a Pro Tools session mid-class or testing next-semester’s hardware upgrades, your work directly impacts the student experience.
Key Responsibilities
Expert Support: Provide in-person and remote assistance for DAWs (Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools), signal flow, and A/V systems.
Facility Magic: Perform daily inspections and setup for classes and special events to ensure everything runs without a hitch.
Leadership: Help oversee and mentor a team of 30–45 student employees, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Innovation: Participate in project teams for room upgrades, document technical workflows, and run hardware/software stress tests.
Quality Control: Maintain inventory and usage logs, ensuring our world-class facilities are used effectively and respectfully.
Who You Are
You’re a tech-savvy communicator who stays cool under pressure. You have a B.A. in Music Technology (or similar) and 1–2 years of experience in a support role. You know your way around a patch bay, can talk "Dante" and "AVB," and are just as comfortable writing a technical manual as you are configuring a synthesizer. Most importantly, you are student-centered and committed to a diverse, respectful workplace.
Why Berklee?
