Kubernetes Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Deployment and Management: Assist with the deployment and management of Kubernetes clusters using GKE.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Work with senior engineers on creating and maintaining IaC configurations, primarily using Terraform, to provision and manage GCP resources.

• Monitoring and Alerting: Support the configuration and maintenance of monitoring and alerting systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Google Cloud Monitoring) to ensure the health and performance of GKE workloads.

• CI/CD Pipeline Support: Assist in maintaining and improving Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitOps flows).

• Troubleshooting: Participate in the diagnosis and resolution of operational issues related to GKE clusters, containers, and underlying GCP infrastructure.

• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for operational procedures, infrastructure configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

• Security: Assist in implementing basic security best practices for GKE environments, including IAM, network policies, and container image security.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience and relevant certifications.

• Basic Cloud Knowledge: Foundational understanding of cloud computing concepts and experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP experience is a strong plus).

• Containerization Basics: Basic knowledge of Docker and containerization concepts.

• Operating Systems: Familiarity with Linux command-line tools and operating system concepts.

• Networking Fundamentals: Understanding of basic networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancers).

• Scripting: Basic proficiency in a scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python).

• Version Control: Experience with Git and standard development workflows.

Desirable Skills (A Plus)

• GKE/Kubernetes: Direct exposure to Kubernetes concepts (Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress) or practical experience with GKE.

• IaC Tools: Exposure to Terraform or similar IaC tools.

• GCP Services: Familiarity with core GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, VPC, Cloud SQL).

• Configuration Management: Experience with configuration management tools like ArgoCD, Ansible or Helm.

• Certification: Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer or equivalent certification.
