Position Overview
The Social Media Content Specialist for KSL is a cross-functional content creator responsible for producing and executing sales commitments, enterprise stories, and special project content, including major events such as General Conference, Give‑A‑Thon, parade coverage, and other tentpole initiative, across KSL’s social platforms.
This role also supports NBC affiliate priorities, adapting network assets for new shows, specials, sports, and large programming events.
The position collaborates with Sales, Creative Services, News/Digital, Enterprise, Promotions, and NBC network partners to plan, create, publish, and track compelling content that drives both revenue and audience growth while maintaining KSL’s brand and editorial standards.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
- This position is an hybrid role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake City site. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers and senior management. Employee will need to be on-site during the training period.
What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Sales & Sponsored Content
- Translate sales packages and promotional commitments into clear, social‑first content plans.
- Maintain the sponsored content calendar and ensure all client deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Produce platform-ready assets, including captions, headlines, thumbnails, photos, basic graphics, and short-form video, that meet client expectations and align with KSL editorial and brand guidelines.
- Track and share basic performance metrics (reach, engagement, clicks, views) for sponsored campaigns.
Enterprise & Special Content
- Collaborate with the News, Digital, and Enterprise teams to package enterprise stories, features, and specials for social platforms.
- Write platform-specific headlines, teases, and captions, and select or request strong visuals tailored to each platform.
- Assist in creating recurring or evergreen social series that support KSL’s long-term audience growth strategy.
- Support social planning and execution for major KSL events.
NBC Affiliate Content
- Adapt network toolkits, assets, and copy for local use while maintaining NBC brand guidelines and KSL’s voice.
- Ensure all required posts for NBC campaigns and tentpole events, such as new shows, specials, major sports, and Olympics coverage, are scheduled, produced, and delivered.
Campaign Coordination & Analytics
- Work closely with Sales, Creative Services, News, Digital, Promotions, and NBC partners to align expectations, timelines, and deliverables.
- Maintain shared planning documents, content calendars, and basic campaign records.
- Use platform insights and internal analytics to guide content decisions and provide simple performance recaps as needed.
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
Required
- 2–4 years of experience in social media, digital content production, or a related role, preferably within media, news, entertainment, or a content-driven organization.
- Demonstrated experience creating, publishing, and optimizing content for major social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, etc.).
- Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to craft concise, engaging copy tailored for various content types (news, sponsored, promotional, enterprise).
- Basic skills in photo/video editing and simple design using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or equivalent.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple campaigns, deadlines, and shifting priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including occasional evenings or weekends for major events.
- Work effectively in a team environment..
- Ability to consistently work hours required. Works more when required to meet deadlines including weekends, evenings, etc.
- Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
- Maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel, Word and Adobe acrobat.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions and work with minimum supervision.
Preferred
- Experience working with Sales, branded content, or promotions teams.
- Familiarity with newsroom workflows, enterprise storytelling, or live event coverage.
- Understanding of NBC affiliate systems, toolkits, or network promotional processes (helpful but not required).
Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
Compensation
$24.00 - $28.00 an hour. Hourly rate to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
