Application and Special Instructions

This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.
Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certification must be obtained
within 90 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment in this
position.

INTERVIEW INFORMATION: Highest-scoring applicants will be invited to attend an in-person interview on Thursday, March 26, 2026, and/or Friday, March 27, 2026.

ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Specific Summary

The KIDCO Recreation Worker position at the City of Tucson is responsible for the planning of activities and oversight of participants, ensuring a fun and engaging experience. Maintains a safe environment and deliver excellent customer service to patrons.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Recreation Program Coordinator.  This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates recreational programs for up to 20 participants aged 5-11 by following pre-approved program planning and direction from site lead. Assists with the creation of new activities or recreational program options.
  • Ensures safety of program participants by adhering to department policies and procedures and properly reporting accidents and hazardous conditions immediately to a supervisor.
  • Maintains constant and appropriate communication with participant’s parents or guardians, school personnel, and all recreation staff.
  • Inspects and cleans designated program areas to maintain care for equipment and facilities.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions

This posting is specific to summer hours, which can vary from 7:15 am to 6:00 pm.

Job sites are located at various facilities throughout the City of Tucson.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
Some High School

Work Experience:
Under one (1) year of relevant experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience volunteering in in a recreational setting
Experience working with up to 20 participants aged 5-11 and providing a safe and fun environment for participants
