Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Key Account Manager (KAM) is the liaison between Takeda and treatment centers within their designated territory and will act as the Ambassador for Takeda brand, vision, and values. The KAM is responsible for maximizing appropriate utilization and patient outcomes of Takeda’s IBD products and the services associated with the products to members of the healthcare team within the center and community.

SCOPE

The KAM leads account-centric engagement across assigned key accounts (e.g., IBD centers and affiliated gastroenterology practices), collaborating with cross-functional partners to identify customer needs, develop account plans, and execute tactics aligned to business objectives and customer priorities.

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Therapeutic Area and Product Specialist

  • Deliver agreed strategy and all necessary tactics within the key accounts to drive Takeda performance, including and not limited to delivering product and therapeutic knowledge, detailing to prescribers and key stakeholders.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant therapies and competitive products (data, studies, outcomes, and current promotional messaging).

  • Provide compliant evidence-based science and disease state knowledge of Takeda therapies to all key stakeholders.

Key Account Management

  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical account planning, such as uncovering needs, stakeholder / influence mapping, identifying / prioritizing business goals, helping define value propositions, delivering value propositions developed in collaboration with Head Office and field cross-functional teams, developing tactical plans, etc.

  • Conduct account management at all IBD centers and gastroenterologists within the assigned territory, foster confidence in Takeda’s holistic approach to engagement, and assist with on-going service and support as needed.

  • Deliver approved messages encompassing compliant accurate clinical, financial, outcomes, and operational issues. Strategically manages assigned accounts, budget and allocated resources yielding maximum effectiveness and impact.

Commercial Excellence

  • Achieves sales goals and objectives by delivering Business Objectives as well as other key metrics in the assigned Territory.

  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical account planning, such as uncovering needs, stakeholder / influence mapping, identifying / prioritizing business goals, helping define value propositions, delivering value propositions developed in collaboration with Head Office and field cross-functional teams, developing tactical plans, etc.

  • Develop cross functional account plans 

  • Develop and regularly evaluate account business plans to ensure they continue to meet strategic business objectives and align with emerging trends and changes within key customer segments or accounts.  Prepare and present account business plans to management as required.

  • Consistently seek new opportunities to drive results that meet unique needs of territory key accounts, ensuring Takeda is trusted partner of choice.

  • Track and communicate KPIs and performance metrics as defined in the account plan.

  • Leverage CRM systems to prioritize call objectives based on customer segmentation, strategies/ tactics, realistic milestones, and previous interactions with customers.

  • Develop a detailed territory action plan that include budget requirements. Manage and monitor accordingly the approved annual territory budget.

Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Proactively engage in compliant collaboration with cross-functional team to ensure alignment in objectives and coordination of activities with accounts and external stakeholders.

  • Identify and raise relevant issues and propose potential solutions through appropriate internal and external channels.

  • Conduct market surveillance and communicate to key internal stakeholders; in-field intelligence on customer insights, external stakeholder activities and trends.

  • Will perform duties in compliance with all applicable laws, industry codes, company policies and procedures

COMPETENCIES:

  • Candidate must be a highly motivated, self-directed, collaborative and results driven individual with a proven track record of successful key account management in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical space

  • Strong aptitude for science

  • Strong collaboration and success working within teams

  • Strong verbal, influencing, presentation and written communication skills

  • Bilingual French and English proficiency required

  • Data-driven decision making: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to make informed decisions and drive business outcomes. 

  • Digital collaboration: Experience working effectively with colleagues in virtual or remote settings, utilizing digital collaboration tools, incl. MS Teams.

  • Trust & Security: Understanding of cybersecurity threats and best practices to protect sensitive information and systems

EDUCATION, REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree – BA/BSc/Bcom

  • Advanced business or scientific degree (MBA, MSc, PharmD) is an asset

  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience to healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotech, device, specialty or healthcare industry

  • Demonstrated growth mindset including courage to implement innovative approaches and the agility to adapt to drive success

  • Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills to identify unique partnership opportunities and adaptability to changing market conditions

  • Experience with managing and communicating complex reimbursement issues

  • Experience with pharmaceutical product launch experience is an asset

  • Experience in other functions outside of sales, such as marketing, market access or medical is an asset

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to travel in field, overnight as required

Base Salary Range:

$103,000.00 - $141,570.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
