Village Veterinary Hospital in Bosque Farms, NM (just 20 minutes south of Albuqureque) is looking for a Veterinary Assistant.  Would prefer someone with experience in the veterinary field.  We are a true mixed animal practice, working on most small animals, equine, bovine, sheep, pigs, llamas and alpacas. 

 

·         Salary: $14 – $18 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications.

·         Schedule: Hospital is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm, Thursday and Saturday 1/2 days 8:30 am – 12 pm. Closed on Sunday and major holidays.

Village Veterinary Hospital is a long-standing mixed animal hospital with deep ties to the community, located in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. With a deeply loyal clientele, this hospital is always busy and utilizes all associates to the highest level of their skills.  Our clinic treats small animals (60%), large animals (40%), as well as emergencies.  We offer full-service veterinary medical treatment, ranging from preventive medicine, dental cleanings, in-house laboratory, pharmacy, digital x-rays, digital ultrasound, house calls, and emergency surgical care.

We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and reliable Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate has a passion for animal welfare, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a clean, safe environment for boarding and rescued pets. This is a vital role in ensuring our pets are happy and healthy during their stay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Feed and water animals according to schedules, provide daily walks and exercise, and offer enrichment/socialization.

  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, and common areas to prevent disease.

  • Observe animal behavior, appetite, and stool, reporting any concerns or illnesses immediately to supervisors.

  • Safely handle, transport, and bathe pets; assist with check-ins/check-outs as needed.

  • Strictly follow safety protocols for animal handling and infection control.

  • Assist doctors and technicians in appointments when needed

Qualifications

  • Genuine love for dogs, cats, horses, cows and other pets.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

  • Physical stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet for long shifts.

  • Must be dependable, punctual, and available to work weekends and holidays (essential for pet care).

  • Previous experience in a boarding facility, shelter, or vet clinic is a plus, but not required
