Position Overview
Ken Garff for Good is seeking a college student who is creative, organized, and passionate about education to serve as a Social Media Intern. This role supports Ken Garff for Good’s mission to advance education initiatives across Utah by helping tell the stories of students, schools, and community partners through engaging digital content.
This internship is designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience in nonprofit communications while allowing flexibility to balance academic commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and posting content on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Write engaging, mission-aligned captions and short-form copy that highlights education initiatives and community impact
- Support content planning for school visits, literacy programs, college- and career-readiness efforts, and community events
- Schedule posts using social media management tools
- Capture photos and short videos at events or program activities (as applicable)
- Monitor comments and messages and escalate items that require staff response
- Help track basic engagement metrics and growth across platforms
- Stay up to date on social media trends and suggest creative ideas that resonate with student and community audiences
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student (freshman–senior) at an accredited college or university
- Major or coursework in Communications, Strategic Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, Journalism, or a related field preferred
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and current trends
- Experience with tools such as Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus, but not required
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively
- Interest in education, philanthropy, and community impact
