Junior VAT Compliance Officer

Luxembourg Full Time

Reports to VAT Compliance Manager 

The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the efficient and timely filling of WHT returns on Directors Fees, Subscription Tax and VAT Returns of alternative investment structures and the management of the audit process in relation to VAT.

Key responsibilities:

  • To work closely with our client teams, both accountants and administrators, to ensure appropriate delivery of client service
  • To undertake VAT reporting services for a portfolio of alternative investment structures (SPV, Holding Companies, ManCo and Funds) under the supervision of the Senior VAT Compliance Officer and VAT Compliance Manager
  • Prepare VAT working papers for a portfolio of alternative investment structures to facilitate VAT reporting
  • Calculate VAT liability and preparation of VAT returns together with supporting documents, prior to submission for review
  • Complete required VAT reporting in a timely manner and update internal VAT trackers to monitor progress
  • Communicate any VAT updates to relevant team members
  • Ability to plan own workload and prioritise/manage time accordingly
  • Work closely with other teams (e.g. Financial Reporting Team, Administration/Client Service team) to ensure seamless and co-ordinated client service delivery
  • Adherence to standard policy and procedures of the Company
  • Maintain files in accordance with internal policies and procedures
  • Provide timely and professional responses to all client and internal enquiries
  • In addition to the duties listed above, the Junior VAT Compliance Officer may be requested to perform other ad hoc duties or projects as requested by the Company

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

  • Relevant degree/qualification in a relevant field such as tax, accounting, finance, business, economics
  • Between 0 to 2 years' experience in a similar position
  • Attention to detail to ensure the delivery of consistent and high standards
  • Ability to plan and organise yourself to meet challenging deadlines
  • Good understanding of technical accounting skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work within a team under the guidance of a manager
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access and MS outlook
  • Fluency in English, as well as other European languages, is advantageous
