Job Description:
Parsons is a leading provider of Mobility / Rail & Transit Systems solutions in Canada. An this new full-time role will be based out of our Burnaby, BC office,. We support major Rail and Transportation programs across Canada and beyond, delivering complex communication and train control systems that keep people moving safely, reliably, and efficiently.
As an Associate Systems Engineer based in Burnaby, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the design, integration, and delivery of communications systems for rail transit projects, working closely with senior engineers, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
In this Burnaby-based role, you will:
- Participate in communication system design and delivery initiatives—primarily for Rail and Transportation—covering new systems, replacements, and upgrades.
- Support various systems projects and proposals from the Burnaby office, including onboard train communication subsystems.
- Prepare engineering documentation for transit projects, including:
- System design plans and architecture descriptions
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Technical specifications and scopes of work
- Installation drawings and diagrams
- Engineering analyses and calculations
- Test plans, procedures, and test reports
- Support procurement in the development of supply contracts, including technical requirements, evaluation criteria, and responses to supplier questions.
- Supervise, review, or witness testing and troubleshooting activities (factory and on-site) for communication subsystems and integrated systems.
- Coordinate with other project engineering, integration, and test team members—locally in Burnaby and across other Parsons offices—to provide systems engineering support throughout the project life cycle.
- Provide technical support to suppliers, subcontractors, and other parties as required to ensure scope is clearly defined, technically compliant, and delivered on schedule.
- Travel as required from Burnaby to project sites, supplier facilities, or client offices to support design reviews, installation, testing, and commissioning, as well as proposal activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, communications, rail/transit, or related infrastructure projects (co-op/internship experience considered).

Salary Range: $61,300 - $113,900
