Ledcor is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Surveyor to join our team and support survey operations on a major rail corridor construction project. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate eager to begin building a career in surveying and heavy civil construction.
In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with the Surveyor and Survey Crew Leader to support day‑to‑day field activities. You’ll assist with instrument setup and operation, help collect accurate field data, and gain exposure to survey networks, structures, utilities, and earthworks layout all while learning industry best practices in a fast-paced, real-world environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Support survey control network activities, including setting up tripods, tribrachs, prisms, and assisting with monument installation
- Assist the Surveyor and Crew Leader with daily field survey operations
- Support layout and staking activities for earthworks, utilities, and structural elements
- Set up, operate, and maintain survey instruments under supervision (total stations, GNSS, digital levels)
- Assist with field measurements, data collection, and basic field calculations.
- Maintain accurate field notes and documentation
- Help manage, organize, and care for survey equipment and materials
- Follow instructions from the Surveyor to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications
- Support general site coordination activities as required
- Adhere to project safety standards and QA/QC procedures
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred)
- No prior work experience required; previous field or co-op experience will be considered an asset
- Basic understanding of surveying principles and ability to read construction drawings
- Basic familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D (field-oriented understanding), along with familiarity with GNSS or total station equipment through academic or practical exposure
- Willingness to work outdoors in an active construction environment
- Ability to work in exposed outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures
- Physical ability to perform job duties in an active construction environment, including lifting and carrying equipment
- Good communication and teamwork skills, demonstrate strong commitment to safety, along with strong work ethic and willingness to learn

- Site based position in Whitby, Ontario
Compensation
$70,000 - $80,000 Annually
This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
