For the expansion of our Flow cytometry core team, argenx is looking for a Junior Scientist who supports flow cytometry activities within the laboratory environment. The role focuses on assisting research teams with routine Flow cytometry operations, supporting instrument maintenance, and ensuring proper handling of reagents and materials. Working under the supervision of our flow cytometry core lead, this position offers hands-on learning opportunities to develop technical expertise while contributing to safe and efficient lab operations. In addition, the Junior Scientist is willing to support activities of other core teams when needed.

The job is based in our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium and requires a daily on-site presence in the office/labs.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
The junior scientist flow cytometry will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Support flow cytometry–related activities within the laboratories, working under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist in providing technical support to research teams and help coordinate and prepare flow cytometry trainings.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on flow cytometry instruments and support basic troubleshooting, escalating complex issues when required.
  • Actively participate in internal and external trainings related to the flow cytometry platforms used at argenx to develop technical expertise.
  • Support inventory management of flow cytometry reagents, including monitoring stock levels, labelling, and assisting with ordering.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Scientific degree, Bachelor or Master.
  • Basic theoretical and practical knowledge of flow cytometry principles.
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry instruments and laboratory equipment, with willingness to learn advanced applications.
  • Knowledge of flow cytometry analysis software (e.g. FlowJo) is a plus.
  • Ability to follow job aids and laboratory safety guidelines accurately.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills and understanding of when to escalate technical issues.
  • Good organizational skills with attention to detail, particularly for reagent handling and inventory tracking.
  • Strong learning mindset with motivation to develop technical expertise through training and hands-on experience.
  • Team player, motivated, enthusiastic, accurate in execution and reporting.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good oral and writing skills in English.
