Business Unit Overview
This position is part of Novanta’s Advanced Surgery business unit group. Novanta offers highly reliable, precise and safe solutions that enhance system performance and improve patient outcomes. Insufflators, pumps and disposable tube sets, along with medical visualization and operating room integration technologies are the preferred solution for minimally invasive surgery applications.
Position Details
Summary
This role supports the identification, evaluation, and assessment of inorganic growth opportunities through acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic investments. It develops market, competitive, customer, and technology insights to inform M&A strategy and commercial due diligence, working closely with Upstream Marketing, Corporate Development, Strategy, and R&D.
Primary Responsibilities
Support market research, segmentation, and value chain analysis to understand growth trends, competitive dynamics, and adjacent opportunities
Assist in identifying and screening potential acquisition targets, technologies, and strategic partners based on market and strategic fit
Contribute to reviews of target portfolios, technology positioning, customer segments, and value chain positioning
Provide market and competitive inputs to support commercial due diligence, including market size, growth drivers, and adoption dynamics
Draft surveys and questionnaires to get insights from experts
Help identify potential opportunities, synergies with Advanced Surgery Group, and early risks to support informed investment discussions
Collaborate with Corporate Development, Strategy, R&D, and Product Management to prepare clear summaries and materials for internal decisionmaking
Search patents for potential targets
General Tasks
Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.
Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
Entry level job requiring no or very limited related work experience.
Requires a considerable amount of analysis. Although the problems are complex, they have been stated and defined. Information to solve the problems may need to be gathered from a variety of sources.
Structured work processes. Some decisions are taken independently based on known alternative procedures.
