The Mission
As a Java Software Engineer in the API Management product team, you will help build and operate the API Management platform — the central solution that enables teams across ING to publish, discover, subscribe to, and secure APIs at scale. The platform serves both internal consumers through an API Marketplace and external consumers through a Developer Portal.
Your Day to Day
- Develop and maintain microservices that power the API Management platform, including resource manager controllers, policy engines, and the API registry;
- Build features that enable API producers to publish OpenAPI documents, register services, manage subscriptions, and generate security tokens and manifests;
- Implement and evolve resource definitions, policies (Open Policy Agent / Rego), and controllers that drive the next-generation API Management platform;
- Contribute to the automation of API lifecycle workflows — from publishing and subscription approval to deprecation and retirement;
- Support the authorisation flows for internal services (token-based authentication), web/mobile applications, and external third-party/partner applications (OAuth);
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, refinements) as a contributing member of an Agile team.
- Write clean, testable code and contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipeline improvements;
- Collaborate with other platform product teams (Authentication, Service Mesh, API Gateway, Automation) to ensure smooth end-to-end integration;
- Contribute to platform documentation and support community channels.
