PURPOSE OF POSITION:

We are seeking a Junior Automation / Mechatronic Engineer to support and grow our automation architecture within a rapidly expanding manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a recent college graduate who is eager to apply their engineering knowledge, learn new technologies, and contribute to innovative automation projects.


You should be quality-focused, eager to learn, imaginative, and capable of working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of a supported learning environment, you will:

  • Assist in expanding the existing automation environment, including integration with automated material handling systems, robotic control, and RFID tracking.
  • Apply your mechanical, electronic, and software engineering knowledge to help build smarter manufacturing systems.
  • Support the design and development of computer-based control systems for manufacturing.
  • Help develop programming logic for manufacturing equipment under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Participate in evaluating new mechatronic technologies and equipment.
  • Prepare and deliver reports at internal technical or project meetings.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and automation partners to enhance automation capabilities.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to colleagues and management.
  • Contribute to automation project lifecycles—from requirements gathering to design, implementation, testing, and commissioning—with mentorship provided.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation and user guides.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Design, Commissioning, and Electrical Engineering teams.
  • Assist in the full lifecycle of machine control system specification and programming.

SKILLS (Graduate Level):
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Basic understanding of electronics, mechanics, and computer systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering science and technology applied in real-world scenarios.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (C#, Java, Python, etc.).
  • Exposure to or interest in PLC programming (training provided).
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate clearly with team members.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a willingness to explore new ideas.
  • Ability to produce clear documentation.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Basic project planning or organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of SQL or databases is desirable but not essential.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Placement/internship experience in automation, robotics, or control systems is desirable but not required.
  • Exposure to industrial automation technologies (PLC, SCADA, robotics, industrial networks) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Network architectures (Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, Profibus, etc.) is beneficial but not essential—training will be provided.
