Junior Analyst (Intern) – Data Protection & Information Security (Risk & Compliance)
About the role
We are looking for a junior profile to help define and implement practical procedures and controls across data protection and information security. This is a hands-on role with a strong learning curve, ideal for someone who is methodical, organised and curious about how privacy and security work in practice.
You will support the development of clear documentation, assist with control testing and help improve day-to-day information handling practices.
Key responsibilities
- Support the design and roll-out of procedures on data protection, information handling and secure sharing of information.
- Help maintain governance documentation (policies, procedures, control descriptions, templates and evidence packs).
- Assist with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) practices: mapping data flows, identifying risky behaviours, documenting controls and supporting awareness actions.
- Support internal reviews and IT audit activities by gathering evidence, tracking remediation actions and keeping audit trails organised.
- Help coordinate privacy and security BAU tasks: registers/logs, risk assessments support, follow-ups with stakeholders and documentation updates.
- Contribute to training and awareness materials (short guides, FAQs, checklists) for non-technical teams.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear, structured documentation.
- A methodical and organised working style; ability to follow through and manage small projects.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with different stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Nice-to-have (we will value, not require)
- Basic understanding or strong interest in GDPR and data protection concepts (e.g., lawful basis, data subject rights, retention).
- Interest in information security fundamentals (access control, secure data handling, cloud sharing practices).
- Exposure to DLP, information governance or IT audit/testing (through coursework, internships or personal projects).
- Academic background in Law, Business, Finance, Risk, IT, Cybersecurity or similar.
