We Require
Two years of progressively responsible legal, court, or justice system support-related experience
Associate’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field
Related experience may substitute for the post-secondary education on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Justice court or justice system support-related experience
Previous experience working as a Judicial Clerk Senior in a court environment
Previous lead or supervisory experience
Job Contributions
Performs duties of a supervisory nature, such as training and overseeing the work of other court staff, and hiring staff
Assists staff in problem resolution and facilitates training in court operations
Answers difficult questions concerning personnel and court policies
Investigates and responds to complex public complaints and requests information or service in accordance with established policies and procedures
Updates database information and reads and interprets minute entries.
Prepares and processes formal orders and documents at the direction of the Judge
Develops employee evaluation plans and goals, and evaluates employee performance
Conducts legal and procedural research at the direction of the Judicial Clerk Supervisor
Disciplines staff when necessary at the direction of the Judicial Clerk Supervisor
Creates work plans in reaction to workload and case filings with direction from the Judicial Clerk Supervisor
Participates in committees and work groups, affecting the creation of policies and procedures
Helps to ensure data and financial integrity
Serves as liaison to outside agencies at the direction of the Judicial Clerk Supervisor
Prepare payroll along with other related personnel functions in the absence of the Judicial Clerk Supervisor
Working Conditions
Work primarily occurs in an office setting
This position may include exposure to traumatic subject matter
Must demonstrate professionalism and composure when engaging with individuals who may be emotional, distressed, or confrontational as a result of court-related matters
Alternative schedules are based on business needs after the training period
