Location & Schedule
The office hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM- 4:30PM at the Minoru Yasui Building located at 303 W Colfax Ave. Suite 800, Denver, CO 80204.
The Denver County Court is seeking a Judicial Associate I to support our Probation Team.
The DCC
The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently, and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Denver County Court proudly serves the community and continually seeks ways to incorporate procedural fairness and evidence-based practices.
The Division
The Probation Division supervises approximately 2,500 cases assigned to 39 Probation Officers. The Probation Department handles misdemeanor and city ordinance violations cases. Most of the cases referred to County Court Probation are for DUI (Driving Under the Influence), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), DUID (Driving Under the Influence of Drugs) and Domestic Violence.
Units and programs in the Probation Division include:
- DUI/DWAI Unit: The Probation Officers assigned to this unit supervise first-time DUI/DWAI offenses, repeat DUI offenses, and DUID offenses.
- DV/FV/Special Crimes Unit: The Probation Officers assigned to this unit supervise domestic violence offenses, family violence offenses, child abuse offenses, theft, and assault offenses.
- Sobriety Court: The Specialty Court was established in 2011 to address habitual DUI offenders. Offenders voluntarily agree to participate in this intensive program at the time of sentencing to receive a lesser jail sentence. In this program, Sobriety Court probationers progress through phases as they accomplish goals set forth in their case plans and treatment plans
- Sex Offender Management Unit: The Probation Officers assigned to this unit receive specialized training to supervise offenders on probation for sex offenses and with past histories of sex offenses
- Recovery Treatment Court: The Specialty Court was implemented in 2026 to provide support in recovery for those struggling with substance misuse. In this program probationers progress through phases as they accomplish goals established through case plans and treatment plans
- Mental Health Unit: This is an intensive supervision unit for clients that have been diagnosed with a serious mental health condition that significantly impacts the client’s ability to comply with probation.

The Job
Day-to-day, as a Judicial Associate I with the probation team, you can expect to:
- Be a valued member of a dynamic team where mutual trust, collaboration, and accountability is critical to the team’s success
- Provide excellent service to all customers and clients of the probation department and Denver County Court
- Perform court specific, technical clerical office support work processing all incoming adult and juvenile probationers
- Conduct criminal history searches utilizing several criminal justice databases
- Prepare and submit legal documents such as Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSIs) reports and motions to the court
- Interpret and explain regulations, policies, standards, and/or procedures to internal/external customers based on extensive knowledge of a specialized area within a defined scope
- Approves and rejects case information and determines appropriate actions within a defined scope
- Review and evaluate forms, applications, computations, documents, and/or other information to determine accuracy, completeness, acceptability, or compliance based on extensive knowledge of court policy, procedures, and legal practices
- Assist in the processing of clients including phone calls, data entry into databases, report processing, intake paperwork and photos, filing motions and court documents, and supporting the overall life cycle on a case
- Maintain detailed and confidential records and act as liaison between clients, court personnel and probation officers
- High-volume office requires the ability to perform daily duties timely to meet the business needs of the department and the court
- Work both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Represent the department and the court in a positive and professional manner at all times
- Serve as a go-to for questions, schedule, train, and mentor judicial assistant team members
- Provide administrative support to other department specialists
- Problem solve difficult circumstances as they arise and notify leadership of complex issues to seek solutions and streamline processes
- Perform Quality Assurance checks on work product as assigned
- Engage in specialized projects as assigned
- Work in conjunction with direct supervisor to ensure collaboration amongst team members and promote efficiency in business operations
Any one position may not include all of the duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed above.

- Bilingual in Spanish preferred (not required)
Required Minimum Qualifications

- Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
- Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience must have been in court, law enforcement or legal setting.
- Education & Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements with the exception of the two years of experience in court, law enforcement or legal setting.
