Job Description

Overview:

The Jr. FP&A Analyst, Reporting & Forecasting (Vena) is responsible for supporting the Finance & Planning function related to Alberta Homes. This is done through preparing and consolidating monthly unit continuity for Alberta Homes (sales, starts, closings, lot purchases) and updating financial mentorship and business plan actuals and forecasts.

This role will also be responsible for updating budgets in the Financial Forecasting software, Vena, and preparing quarterly asset reporting and analysis for management through data pulls from Vena. In addition, the Analyst will perform ad hoc analysis of financial data with the goal of improving asset level proformas.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support forecasting and mentorship processes for Homes, at the consolidated Calgary, Edmonton & Alberta levels. The specific tasks include the following:

  • Maintenance of unit level continuity within our financial forecasting Software, Vena (sales, starts, closings, lot purchases) for actuals and forecast alongside operations to ensure the accuracy of the forecast for these numbers

  • Support ongoing data management within financial systems such as BRP Insights, Vena & Rook.

  • Assist with monthly guidance as required for Alberta including preparing, consolidating and reviewing

  • Work with operations to ensure accuracy of lot zero budgets and rates for Alberta, including maintenance of rates in Rook and allocation of budgets into Vena

  • Support the preparation of all monthly / quarterly reporting (Alberta)

  • Process improvement on guidance process and systems utilization

  • Assist with forecasting enhancement projects & data management within forecasting software/tools (Vena

  • Work alongside the Communities team to forecast Alberta Homes lot purchases and lot cashflows within Vena

  • Assist with the preparation of the Alberta Homes Business Plan, at the Calgary & Edmonton City levels & consolidated Alberta level. This will include (but is not limited to) the following specific tasks:

  • Work directly with Ops teams to obtain all inputs required for Alberta Homes business plan including units and budgets

  • Updating Vena for project life BP inputs

  • Roll forward of templates for the Business Plan process

  • Assisting with Calgary & Edmonton City consolidated divisional and asset reporting, as well as BRPI reporting (City Level & Alberta) also supporting with valuation/EVA & impairment analysis

  • Preparing schedules and compiling data for various presentations and management review

  • Support with the preparation and presentation of ad hoc, quarterly, and business plan reports from Vena data. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Quarterly asset level Gross Margin reports and project comparison tables utilizing advanced excel

  • Data extraction for asset level budget analysis

  • Quarterly actual results analysis

  • Ensuring accurate actuals are inputted in various templates and reporting tools

  • Financial analysis on various operations related projects

  • Support Operational, Financial, and System Oriented teams to complete additional projects as necessary when they arise.

  • Identify and implement improvements in operational efficiency as applicable

What You'll Bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in Commerce, Real Estate, Accounting/Finance, (or equivalent mix of education and experience)

  • 1+ years of progressively responsible related experience for a major or medium-sized company

  • Advanced skills in excel and MS suite

  • Strong attention to detail and proven accuracy skills and organizational skills

  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Outstanding task and time management skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify risks/issues and recommend solutions

  • Proficiency in planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and building, and managing financial data
