Pierce County Refuse Lemay is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Diesel Mechanic in Frederickson, WA, to support our heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance teams. This position offers a competitive hourly rate, CDL premium, and a swing shift differential.

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $37.00 – $41.00/hour (DOE)
CDL Premium: Additional $1.00/hour for Class A or B CDL holders
Shift Differential: +$1.50/hour for swing shift

Schedule & Overtime
Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Overtime: Average 8–10 hours/week; paid at 1.5×
Swing shift with differential applied
Key Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailers
Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
Use diagnostic tools and software (Cummins Insite, Davie‑4, Allison DOC)
Perform DOT and OSHA‑compliant safety inspections
Execute MIG welding and basic fabrication tasks
Test drive vehicles to confirm repair quality and performance
Record repairs, parts, and hours using fleet maintenance software
Review and address Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
Communicate clearly with drivers, supervisors, and team members
Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of heavy truck/diesel mechanic experience
Experience with diagnostics and repair of heavy-duty equipment
Valid Driver’s License (Class B CDL preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days)
Welding experience (MIG) preferred
Strong understanding of DOT, OSHA, and vehicle safety standards
Ability to read and apply technical documentation
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must have own basic tool set
