Position Overview:

Finning Canada is looking for passionate and field experienced Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians (Red Seal preferred) to join our team based out of our Surrey branch. Our Heavy Equipment Technicians are responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Caterpillar general line, equipment throughout the region; specifically in a field environment. This role offers an opportunity to work on ultra-class Caterpillar construction equipment.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions

  • Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in a field environment (possibility of remote locations)

  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.

  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required

  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements

  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment

**Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement**

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification

  • Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr)

  • Strong experience in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems

  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial

  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience

  • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset

Important Details:

  • This is a field role based out of our Surrey branch on a 5x2 schedule

  • A condition of employment may include the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable
