Perform a variety of general, mechanical and preventative maintenance as well as inspections, servicing, repair, and overhaul of facilities and equipment throughout the hospital. Provide security services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School diploma or equivalent

2. Must have a valid WV Driver’s License.

EXPERIENCE:

1. One (1) year of experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Associate Degree in related field

EXPERIENCE:

1. Certification or license in at least 1 related area preferred: plumbing, carpentry, electrical, air conditioning, and machine work

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Carry out routine and specific assignments. Follow oral and written task assignments from supervisor.

2. Repair and maintain machinery and equipment according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturers specifications utilizing hand and power tools and precision measuring and tasting instruments

3. Dismantle devices or equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.  Repair and/or replace defective parts.

4. Adjust functional parts of devices and may install all special functional and structural parts.  Lubricate and clean parts.  Start device to test performance.

5. Install, inspect, operate and repair refrigeration equipment for preserving food, making ice, cooling water, and air conditioning for the hospital building.

6. Assist in building renovation.  Perform light carpentry as well as electrical and mechanical duties.

7. Advise supervisor of degree of difficulty of tasks

8. Care for and maintain department supplies and equipment, and work areas.  Keep a list of supplies, equipment, etc. used on projects and advises supervisor.

9. Operate hospital vehicle to pick up or deliver supplies or equipment.

10. Maintain the grounds and landscape of the hospital as required.

11. Assist Mechanic II with duties as required and perform duties of Maintenance helper as required.

12. Patrol hospital buildings and premises to assist with the prevention of fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.   Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises;  confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.  Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations to the Security Director.

13. Respond to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students, and visitors; escort personnel and visitors to parking lot as requested

14. Maintain records and prepare occurrence reports and other documents pertinent to security activities

15. Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities as required.

16. Control parking and traffic flow.  Issue tickets for parking violations.  Report repeat violations to the Security Director.

17. Contact local police authorities for assistance as needed.

18. Attend inservice and other meetings as required.

1. Able to bend, stoop, reach and capable of normal rotation, and standing for a 7-8 hour shift. Able to lift fifty pounds from floor to a height of five feet and capable of moving all types of furniture, Equipment and machinery up to 400 ft. or more

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Capable of operating, setting up all types of in house maintenance tools and machinery

2. Capable of operating and driving all Hospital vehicles
