Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Java Microservices Developer to join our enterprise technology team across locations including Pune, Bangalore, and Chennai. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable and resilient microservices and APIs leveraging Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks. Your contribution will support the organization’s digital infrastructure by delivering secure, high-performance backend solutions. The candidate will work within an Agile environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to meet evolving business needs.

Software Requirements

  • Required: Java 8+, Spring Boot (version 2.0+), JPA, Hibernate, Spring Boot JDBC, Hazelcast, SQL (PostgreSQL or Oracle), Git, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Agile/Scrum methodologies

  • Preferred: Spring WebFlux (reactive programming), Kafka or IBM MQ, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Buildkite), cloud deployment experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Experience Level: 5 to 6 years of practical Java microservices development experience

Overall Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java microservices and REST APIs aligned with business requirements

  • Incorporate strong core Java skills including streams, data structures, and design patterns into production code

  • Implement messaging queues such as Kafka or IBM MQ for reliable, asynchronous communication

  • Optimize database interactions using JPA, Spring Boot JDBC, and SQL, working with PostgreSQL or Oracle databases

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to interpret requirements and deliver high-quality solutions

  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best coding practices and standards

  • Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analyses, and resolve problems proactively

  • Support deployment automation and perform system performance tuning for scalability and reliability

  • Document system architecture, API specifications, and operational procedures

Technical Skills (By Category)

  • Programming Languages:

    • Essential: Java (version 8+), core Java, streams, data structures, design patterns

    • Preferred: Spring WebFlux (reactive programming), Kotlin or Scala for microservices

  • Databases/Data Management:

    • PostgreSQL, Oracle, Hibernate, JPA, Spring Boot JDBC, schema design, and query optimization

  • Cloud Technologies:

    • Basic familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus but not mandatory

  • Frameworks and Libraries:

    • Spring Boot, Spring Data, Hibernate, Kafka, IBM MQ, Hazelcast, Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation

  • Development Tools & Methodologies:

    • Git, Jenkins, Maven, CI/CD pipelines, Agile Scrum, TDD/BDD (JUnit, Cucumber, Rest Assured)

  • Security & Protocols:

    • Understanding of OAuth2, JWT, secure API design, and encryption standards

Experience Requirements

  • 5–6 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining Java microservices within large enterprise environments

  • Proven expertise in messaging queues such as Kafka or IBM MQ for asynchronous data flow

  • Strong knowledge of relational databases including PostgreSQL or Oracle, with focus on schema design and query optimization

  • Experience working within Agile teams, conducting code reviews, and using CI/CD tools

  • Industry experience in finance, banking, or fintech is advantageous but not mandatory; extensive enterprise experience is acceptable

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot microservices and REST APIs aligned with business needs

  • Collaborate with product owners, testers, and DevOps teams to support continuous deployment and integration

  • Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices for coding, security, and performance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure system stability

  • Optimize database interactions and service performance, including implementing caching when necessary

  • Document system architecture, APIs, and operational procedures for maintainability

  • Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives, supporting continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent; relevant professional experience is acceptable

  • 5+ years of experience developing enterprise-grade Java microservices with Spring Boot

  • Certifications in Java, cloud platforms, or microservices architecture are a plus

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Willingness to learn new tools, frameworks, and industry best practices
