Job Description: Java Developer

Location: Omaha, NE (Onsite 5 days a week)

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with a strong foundation in Core Java/J2EE, and substantial experience in enterprise-level software development. The candidate will work on-site at UPC, collaborating with a dynamic team to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet client requirements.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Java 17: Proficiency in Java 17, with a deep understanding of its features and improvements.

  • Spring and Spring Boot: Extensive experience in building scalable applications using Spring Framework and Spring Boot.

  • SQL: Strong skills in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database interactions.

  • REST APIs: Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain RESTful web services.

  • Messaging Services: Experience with Kafka or JMS for message-driven architecture.

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Angular 8: Familiarity with front-end development using Angular 8.

  • Docker: Experience in containerizing applications with Docker.

  • Oracle Database & PostgreSQL: Good knowledge of working with Oracle Database and PostgreSQL.

  • Oracle Coherence: Understanding of distributed data grid solutions.

  • ETL Tools: Exposure to ETL tools for data integration.

  • Linux Basics: Basic command-line skills in Linux environments.

  • Data Analytics (Tableau): Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau.

  • JAXB2/Jakarta: Knowledge of XML binding with JAXB2 or Jakarta.

  • Version Control: Proficiency in GitHub and familiarity with GitHub Copilot.

Desired Profile:

  • Core Java/J2EE Fundamentals: Strong grasp of Java fundamentals and J2EE standards.

  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Oracle Database Skills: Advanced proficiency with Oracle Database.

  • Agile Methodology: Knowledge of Agile development practices is an advantage.

  • Mentorship: Capability to conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers to ensure high-quality deliverables.

  • Quality Focus: A strong culture of delivering projects with first-time right/zero defects in production.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.

  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems.

  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.

The base salary for this position is $70,000- $86,000 plus incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on work location, qualifications, skills, education, experience, and competencies. Benefits available to eligible employees in this role include medical, dental, and vision insurance, comprehensive employee assistance program, 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off and holidays and paid learning days.
