IT/OT Mining and Resource Planning Team implements and enforces standards and policies as defined by the Group in collaboration with Corporate Mining and Resource Planning organization. IT/OT Mining and Resource Planning Team designs, deploys and supports regional and Business areas specific solutions and applications for the Corporate Mining and Resource Planning organization.
The IT/OT Mining & RP Project Manager is a critical bridge between the Corporate Mining & Resource Planning (MRP) team and the IT organization. You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting digital solutions and operational technologies (OT) that enhance mining efficiency, data accuracy, and safety across global operations. Whether your expertise lies in Mining Engineering, Geospatial Systems (GIS), or Continuous Improvement, your goal is to translate complex business requirements into robust technical systems.
The IT/OT Mining & RP Project Manager covers any IT/OT Mining and Resource Planning projects, change requests and support on existing infrastructure delivering customers projects and operational technologies not limited to the implantation but support and troubleshooting as well. In addition, he/she develops and monitors data quality metrics and ensures business data and reporting needs are met. Strong technology, analytical and communication skills are must-have traits. This position will be mainly dedicated to the success of the Imerys IT/OT mining projects.
Your Responsibilities:
Project Management & Strategic Planning
Project Lifecycle: Define project requirements by identifying milestones, phases, and elements; form project teams and establish/manage project budgets.
Execution & Monitoring: Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving bottlenecks, publishing progress reports, and recommending corrective actions.
Resource & Cost Analysis: Validate resource requirements and develop complex cost estimate models to support project feasibility.
Strategic Support: Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, and operational research to support strategic planning across various departments.
Data-Driven Decisions: Interpret, evaluate, and interrelate research data to develop integrated business analyses and projections for executive decision-making.
Business Analysis & Continuous Improvement (CI)
Operational Objectives: Determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements and formats.
Process Mapping: Construct workflow charts and diagrams, study system capabilities, and write detailed technical specifications.
System Optimization: Improve systems by studying current practices and designing modifications; recommend controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures.
Impact Assessment: Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any technical or process changes.
Actionable Analytics: Suggest changes using advanced analytics and actively participate in the implementation of approved changes.
IT/OT Infrastructure & Technical Documentation
Infrastructure Governance: Interact closely with the IT/OT organization to produce and maintain documentation and procedures pertaining to the Mining & RP infrastructure.
Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends while maintaining strict confidentiality.
System Validation: Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reviews of current processes using operational metrics and reports across operations, purchasing, inventory, and distribution.
Reporting Tools: Create informative, actionable, and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement.
Mining Operations & Technical Excellence
Operational Optimization: Analyze and optimize mining operations, including drilling, blasting, and excavation workflows.
Modeling & Simulation: Utilize operational plans, production data, and simulation/modeling software to assess and enhance operational performance.
Technical Literacy: Demonstrate a strong aptitude for understanding technical drawings (PFDs, P&IDs), cause-and-effect matrices for complex packages, and mechanical/rotating equipment control systems.
Data Standards: Clearly understand data sheets and plant design specifications to ensure digital twins or ERP systems remain accurate.
Resource Management: Apply a deep understanding of mine planning and resource management strategies to all IT/OT implementations.
Collaboration, Safety & Compliance
Stakeholder Influence: Demonstrate the ability to influence stakeholders outside of the immediate chain of command to drive digital adoption.
Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate closely with on-site engineers, geologists, and management teams to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with relevant mining regulations and safety standards; maintain a fundamental understanding of process hazard safety.
Innovation: Continually research and recommend innovative technologies and methodologies (OT) to improve efficiency and safety on-site.
Qualifications:
Essential
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Geology or a closely related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT mining operations, with a strong understanding of underground and/or open-pit mining methods, mine planning and simulation tools.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities, essential for a global work environment.
Ability to work independently and manage complex projects.
Experience with data analysis and reporting.
Commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices.
Fluent in English and French
