Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), Position Description Number T5824900 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard. This position is located in the Kansas Air National Guard, Air National Guard Intelligence Wing, CYBER OPS - Air National Guard Network Operation and Security Center (NOSC).
Major Duties:
Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERINECE: Must have experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (or equivalent. Must have the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This includes: Comprehensive knowledge of advanced Information Technology (IT) principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices sufficient to evaluate, test and troubleshoot the components of a highly evolved IT enterprise network. Comprehensive knowledge of various network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, concentrators, boundary protection devices (Firewall), messaging platforms and print services sufficient to configure, test, evaluate and troubleshoot unique network problems. Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and applications software sufficient to analyze requests for new and modified applications, define requirements and provide technical guidance. Extensive knowledge of and skill in applying modeling and simulation tools and techniques sufficient to evaluate, test and baseline existing and proposed equipment and software for compliance with Air National Guard enterprise requirements. "Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position." Physical Demands: Work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Working Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required.
