Job Summary: This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent serves as an Information Technology (IT)Specialist (Policy and Planning) and provides strategy, architecture, and guidance for Joint Staff (JS) Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives within the Department of Defense (DoD) AI domain.

Qualifications: This position is being filled under DoD Modified Direct-Hire Auth (Certain DoD Personnel), PL 118-31, Sec 1250B(i)(2), 12/22/2023 Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f. You may qualify at the GG-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-13 grade level in the Federal service: Understanding principles, current capabilities, practices, to include expert knowledge of novel, emergent, and theoretical areas of modern IT capabilities and issues to develop or improve programs that are innovative and/or that have previously been resistant to solutions; Applying Enterprise Data, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) architecture capability analysis; Understanding qualitative and/or quantitative methods to assess and improve data, analytics, and AI effectiveness and implementation while maintaining alignment with policies and procedures consistent with relevant legislation and regulations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210 series. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
