Job Summary: As an IT Specialist with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management you will design, develop, and implement advanced enterprise software solutions using AI/ML, cloud-native architectures, and modern DevSecOps practices to deliver secure, scalable, mission-critical applications and provide senior technical leadership across strategic technology initiatives.

Major Duties:

  • Designs, builds, and deploys AI-enabled applications and services using modern programming languages, cloud-native architectures, and scalable microservices frameworks. Develops and operationalizes machine learning models and generative AI solutions, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model evaluation, and production deployment. Engineers robust APIs, data pipelines, and system integrations to enable seamless interoperability between AI components and enterprise platforms. Implements MLOps and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD automation, model versioning, automated testing, and infrastructure as code to support reliable AI system delivery. Optimizes AI workloads for performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and security within cloud and hybrid environments. Applies secure-by-design principles to AI systems, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity requirements and responsible AI standards. Translates functional requirements into AI-driven technical solutions by prototyping, validating, and iterating on models and system designs in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Collaborates with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and prepares technical briefings for leadership.

Qualifications: Basic Requirement for the Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210 occupation: You must have Information Technology (IT) related experience demonstrating each of the following competencies:1)Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;2)Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;3) Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; and4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations .Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. AND Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service (or equivalent) performing all of the following: Designing, developing, and deploying AI-enabled software applications using modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or similar) and cloud-based AI/ML services; Building and integrating large language models (LLMs), machine learning models, or AI agents into full-stack applications supporting operational or mission-focused environments; Developing custom tools, APIs, or extensions to enable AI systems to operate in secure, high-security, or air-gapped environments; Implementing secure coding practices and applying software assurance principles to protect sensitive or classified data; Collaborating in Agile software development environments to deliver tested, production-ready AI applications. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
