Job Summary: About the Position: Position is for an overseas Defense Health Agency (DHA) Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) located at Camp Zama, Japan. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major Duties:

  • Plans, develop and executes ongoing and special assignments and taskings as related to the enterprise Local Area Networks.
  • Provides IT solutions such as capacity studies, installation, performance tuning and expert time when requested.
  • Monitors network traffic for unauthorized connections and network incidents.
  • Engineers network solutions and recommend hardware and software configurations for the enterprise environment.
  • Provides assistance to and participates with system developers in the design and implementation of new or modified systems.
  • Provides technical support for all network related initiatives and other projects as assigned.
  • Coordinates review of task orders and delivery orders for information technology hardware, software, documentation, services, and supplies to insure that they are accurate and complete.
  • Coordinates with specialists and managers at higher levels to obtain information to interface with systems at those levels to facilitate the acquisition and exchange of network technology.
  • Develops local guidelines, standard operating procedures, bulletins and flyers concerning the use of IT systems.
  • Analyzes and resolves system hardware/software failures.
  • Three years of network experience is preferred.

Basic Requirements Experience Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate GS-11: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: recommending procedures or techniques for proper integration of programs and/or services; assisting with the design and/or implementation of new or modified systems; and providing network support to recommend hardware and software configurations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
