Key Responsibilities:
This position will be largely involved in acquisitions and divestitures from the perspectives of systems administration and networking teams. This individual will also be working to support the Server Administration team when not working actively on project tasks for A&D. The individual should have good networking skills with a heavier need for knowledge in systems administration.
While this position requires the skills listed below, this position will primarily be for working in projects for acquisitions and divestitures.
Travel up to 75% is expected.
Project management experience or knowledge of project management concepts and tools.
Strong communication skills will be necessary to interact with internal and external teams.
System Monitoring: Independently monitor and analyze system and database performance using advanced tools and custom scripts, proactively identifying and addressing performance issues, and escalating complex anomalies as needed.
Infrastructure Optimization: Analyzes and recommends improvements to IT infrastructure across Windows, Unix, and/or database environments to enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency that support business objectives. The main area for this will be optimization and organization in relation to acquisitions and divestitures.
Troubleshooting: Diagnoses and resolves complex system and/or database issues using technical expertise and established procedures, providing support for escalated user problems and system errors across infrastructure components. Available to work after hours and/or weekends, and on-call, as required.
Team Support: Works well with the rest of the Server Administration and Networking teams. Provides informal guidance and technical assistance to new and existing team members to foster a collaborative work environment.
Documentation: Maintains detailed and accurate documentation of infrastructure, system, and database configurations, procedures, and changes to support operational consistency and audit readiness. Generates and analyzes system activity reports, contributes to documentation standards, and ensures updates reflect current environments and best practices. Able to create and work off templates of standard questions for acquisitions and divestitures.
Key Skills:
Knowledge of IT concepts with acquisitions and divestitures such as tools for use with M365.
Network: Working knowledge of networking concepts and commands across Windows, Unix, and/or database environments, with the ability to configure and troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to system or database operations.
Administration: Experienced in administering and maintaining Windows, Linux, and/or database server environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security. Performs routine maintenance, monitors system health, applies updates and patches, and troubleshoots server-related issues to support stable and efficient operations.
Problem Solving: Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure issues using technical expertise, analytical thinking, and industry best practices. Proactively identifies root causes, implements effective solutions, and supports continuous improvement of system reliability and performance.
Security Implementation: Experienced in implementing, managing, and maintaining security protocols across Windows, Unix, and/or database environments. Skilled in configuring user permissions, access controls, and encryption settings to protect infrastructure and data integrity. Capable of conducting routine security audits and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.
Cloud Computing: Working knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure services, including migrations, deployment, configuration, and management of resources. Supports hybrid environments by integrating cloud services with on-premises systems to enhance scalability, availability, and operational efficiency.
Scripting and Automation: Adept in developing and refining script to automate administrative tasks such as system monitoring, user and permission management, and/or database maintenance. Leverages automation to streamline operations, reduce manual effort, enhance system efficiency, and support proactive troubleshooting and reporting.
Virtualization: Skilled in deploying, configuring, and managing virtual machines across Unix, Windows, and/or database environments with hypervisors. Supports resource optimization, system scalability, and high availability through effective virtualization strategies and routine maintenance of virtual infrastructure.
Multi-site support - Support and maintain IT operations across a multi-site global infrastructure. Assist in optimizing system performance and ensuring service availability by proactively monitoring systems and responding to escalated issues. Contributes to the standardization of support practices across regions, using automation and scripting tools appropriate to improve efficiency. Collaborate with regional teams and stakeholders to support cross-site initiatives and ensure alignment with broader IT objectives. Provide guidance to Level 1 administrators and participate in knowledge-sharing to strengthen team capabilities.
Technical Communication: Effectively communicates complex technical concepts to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. Translates technical details into clear, actionable information to support collaboration, documentation, and informed decision-making.
Data Protection and Recovery Strategies: Skilled in implementing, managing, and optimizing backup and recovery solutions. Supports the development of disaster recovery procedures by contributing to risk assessments, testing protocols, and recovery optimization efforts. Ensures data integrity, minimizes downtime, and assists in aligning backup strategies with business continuity requirements.
