The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) seeks an IT Relationship Specialist to support the overall mission of the High Performance Computing (HPC) Client Services Group and in particular serve as an IT relationship manager for key clients and engage with the broader research computing community. OSC accelerates discovery for Ohio’s academic and commercial researchers by providing accessible, reliable and secure HPC power at a fraction of the cost of alternatives, along with expert consultation and secure storage.
The HPC Client Services Group delivers the client experience at OSC through client engagement, training, and administration. The IT Relationship Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with researchers and organizations, and raising awareness of OSC. The ideal candidate will be an outgoing self-starter.
Responsibilities of the position include:
Establishes and maintains relationships with faculty, universities, and other customers. Recruits and develops clients.
Manages and monitors the relationship between IT service owners and their customers. Establishes service-level agreements. Audits contractual compliance. Solicits feedback from clients.
Participates in outreach activities, including occasional travel to conferences and Ohio college/university campuses.
Manages and executes OSC’s billing procedures alongside the business office.
Collaborates with the OSC technical team to deliver a smooth client experience.
Participates in OSC projects as directed.
Creates and updates user documentation when needed.
The IT Relationship Specialist will report to the HPC Client Services Manager at the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) main office located on The Ohio State University's West Campus.
The Ohio Supercomputer Center, along with OARnet and OhioLINK, is part of the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH), the technology and information division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE). Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business, computer information science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2 years of experience in the development of technical solutions for clients in a computing space.
Demonstrated experience in the development of strong client relationships to support the marketing of technology solutions.
2 years of relevant/related experience with face-to-face client interactions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a service mindset.
Eligible to work in an export-controlled environment.
Desired Education/Experience:
4 years of experience working in a technical or engineering environment in the development of technical solutions for customers in a computing space.
4 years in sales and support with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain a customer relationship and promote an environment of development for the marketing of technology solutions to meet the needs of their business.
Experience with ServiceNow or other ITIL platform.
Experience in HPC/Research Computing; familiarity with HPC concepts, technologies and workflows.
Experience with business processes around invoicing/billing.
Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management applications.
Familiarity with academic research.
